Your Local Beach

A short walk past the Longhouse and out of the village entrance has you standing on one of the most beautiful and tranquil beaches the area has to offer. A freshwater stream runs along the path to the beach and feeds directly into the sea, hence the name of Freshwater East. The beach provides a half mile wide stretch of clean, unspoilt sand, perfect for children of all ages. The sea encroaches very gradually onto the sand without any hidden depths or steep gradients, again adding to the safety of this perfect family beach.

Freshwater East Bay provides an excellent environment for all water sports and has its own slipway into the sea. It is a very good area for angling and sea fishing.

A great time to walk down to the beach is late evening, just before dusk. The beauty and tranquillity hit you as you walk down the path and get your first glimpse of the beach and the sea. You will often see people having barbecues on the beach at this time, or simply sitting on the sand with a lantern and a bottle of wine enjoying the peaceful atmosphere as the sun goes down.

There are public toilets along the path to the beach, and there is usually an ice-cream van in the adjoining public car park.
